Holocaust Remembrance Day - Yom HaShoah

Wednesday, April 15, 2026 28 Nisan 5786

7:00 PM - 8:30 PMHar El

Join us at Har El for a fascinating lecture for Yom HaShoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day:

Recipes of Resistance: The Ravensbrück Recipe Book"
by Lise Kirchner & Ellie Lawson

Gain insight into a lesser-known dimension of the Holocaust: the experiences of Jewish women in Ravensbrück and the forms of resilience that emerged in a camp built specifically to incarcerate and exploit them. You will discover how a recipe book created from memory under starvation conditions reveals profound stories of resistance, imagination, and cultural preservation. Through photographs, documents, letters, and survivor testimony, participants will learn about the fate of the Teitelbaum family of Belgium, the conditions within the women’s camp, and the networks of care and solidarity that helped some prisoners endure. The talk offers a deeper understanding of how women responded to extraordinary brutality, and how personal artefacts can illuminate the human experiences behind historical events.
