Menorah Lighting and Hanukkah Cocktail making
Thursday, December 17, 2020 • 2 Tevet 5781
7:30 PM - 9:00 PMZOOM LINKWe will be making two shaken cocktails.
If you do not have a cocktail shaker, you can use a jar with a water-tight lid.
You can also use a 1/4 cup measuring cup and a tablespoon to measure.
For one cocktail, you'll need vodka, apple cider (or juice in a pinch), bitters, vanilla extract, and some sort of fruity brandy. Rachel is using Chambord and Rabbi Philip is using slivovitz.
If you want to make it without alcohol, you can just leave out the vodka and replace the brandy with a heartier juice or syrup like grenadine or pomegranate juice, you can also use a few drops of unsweetened tea for the bitters. You can then top it with seltzer.
For the other, you'll need bourbon, brown sugar or honey syrup, lemon juice, apple butter, and an orange for a garnish. To make the syrup, you mix equal parts sugar and boiling water and let cool. A simple way to get something like apple butter is to cook down some apple sauce and then blend it to smooth it out.
If you want to make it without alcohol, you will leave out the bourbon and can add a little bit of apple juice and cinnamon.
Sorry, Registration has ended.
