Join us for this month's lunch with guest speaker Dr. Heather Herington:
“Understanding Emotional Trauma and Its Recovery through Natural and Creative Means”
In this presentation, Dr. Heather will share her personal and professional journey through trauma and healing. Drawing on decades of experience as a naturopathic and homeopathic physician, she will describe her two-pronged approach to treating psychological trauma:
- Balancing biochemistry through natural medicine (nutrition, supplements, herbs, homeopathy, and still-point therapies)
- Revising the personal narrative through expressive and creative processes
She will illustrate how this approach can complement pharmaceutical treatments or stand alone, offering a deeper exploration of post-traumatic stress (PTS)—both historically and personally—while sharing specific natural strategies for emotional and physical recovery.
-------------
Heather Herington, BSc (Biology), NMD, DHANP graduated from Bastyr University (then Bastyr College of Naturopathic Medicine) in 1987. She then certified as a a Diplomate in the Homeopathic Academy of Naturopathic Physicians. At the request of the Archdiocese of Vancouver, she began treating sexual abuse survivors early in her career—an experience that led her to specialize in trauma (PTS), addiction, autoimmune disorders, as well as women’s and children’s health, including neurological conditions.
Often called a visionary pioneer, Dr. Herington combines natural medicine with expressive arts to treat complex cases—a philosophy inspired by her belief that we all have far more power to heal ourselves than we’ve been told.
Since 2020, her podcast Dr. Heather Uncensored has focused on trauma and holistic healing. She has written health-related books, novels, a children's musical and creates radio plays exploring health conditions that demand a body–mind investigation. She also leads workshops (Moving to Healing). Her work and updates can be found at drheatherherington.com and at heatherherington.com
A member of SAG-AFTRA, her upcoming one-woman show The Music Stopped on Valentine’s Day tells the story of her late husband, Avi Gross, whose death resulted from hospital error, while celebrating his vocal and instrumental music. (Avi’s album Sophie’s Heart is streaming on major platforms.)
