After his wife's death, Kaspar discovers that she had a daughter who was abandoned in East Germany. Kaspar travels to the East and encounters a young woman name Svenja and her daughter, Sigrun. Their worlds are vastly different, with Svenja and Sigrun living in a rural community with new-Nazi ties, but Kaspar is determined to connect with them, despite the ideological divide.
