Hametz

This form must be completed by Friday, April 11, 2025 at 11am.

Since ownership of hametz (bread and other leavened products) is not allowed during Passover, ideally all hametz in one's possession would be given away or destroyed before the holiday begins. Since this often represents a financial hardship, the practice arose for people to store away their hametz before Passover and arrange to sell it for the duration of the holiday.

This form gives Rabbi Philip permission to sell your Hametz along with the Hametz of the synagogue for the duration of the holiday.

Also, there is a tradition to use this time to help others celebrate Passover by contributing to ma'ot chitim, funds to help everyone celebrate the holiday. As we do every year, we are participating in the JFS Passover Campaign. You can contribute here: http://www.jfsvancouver.ca/passover

I, the undersigned, fully empower and permit Rabbi Philip Gibbs to act in my place and stead, and in my place to sell all hametz possessed by me as defined by Torah and Rabbinic law.

Rabbi Philip has the full right to sell and lease by transactions, as he deems fit and proper, for such time which he believes necessary.

Also do I hereby give the said Rabbi Philip full power and authority to appoint a substitute in his stead with full power to sell and lease as provided herein. The above given power is in conformity with all Torah and Rabbinical laws and regulations.
